iPad & WP App

It has been a long time since I can remember being as excited as I have been the past two days for Christmas. I actually had to wake my boys up to go down and start opening presents. What ever happened to waking at 0400 and waking everyone up – sigh, another sign times are changing.

So to the point of this post.

My wife-unit decided it would be a good idea to get me an iPad. How awesome is that? Naturally, one of the first apps I had to try was the one for WP. It’s actually what I am using to put this post together.

In general I would have to say it works well. There are a couple of things to watch for:

  • Don’t like that the text doesn’t auto-save as you’re typing. Just writing this post I have had to start from scratch three times. That’s what it took me realize I needed to start saving – awkward.
  • There seems to be a bug where the editor expands larger than your screen and you have a problem seeing the few words at the end of each row. It doesn’t happen all the time, but once it does you have to close the post and reopen it.
  • The preview seems to have limited support for themes which kind of stinks. I am using a generic WOO theme, no customization and I get a friendly message that says “not all themes are supported.” I am curious if this is more a function of the platform than the app itself.

Allow me to qualify this post by saying I have only been playing with it for an hour or so. The items I identified above are small when compared to the added productivity and flexibility it’s going to offer me moving forward.

What I am really excited about, and looking forward to, is using this fantastic piece of gear on the road.

As always, thanks for stopping by.
