ArcSDE 10.0: Permission Issue on Install

There I was, elated that I had been able to get things situated to a point where I’d finally be able to start deploying the new ESRI 10.0 server suite when I get this pesky little error: Error 1310. Error writing to file: msvcp80.dll. Verify that you have access to that directory.

I posted this on the ESRI forums but I am sure not everyone checks the forums so I am reaching out to the community via the interwebs. Looking for help on this one folks.

If you go to the ESRI forum it’s titled: ArcSDE 10 – 64 bit Install: Error 1310 – Win2008R2 Server

The issue obviously seems to be access. The kicker though is f I run the 32 bit installer it installs no problem. It’s unclear to me why this continues to happen with the 62 bit installer. I am sure someone else has experienced something similar.

I am logging as an administrator and have also enabled the built-in administrator and verified that it gave me the same error, it did.

The set up is:

– Clean Windows 2008 R2 Server Standard 64 bit

– Clean SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise 64 bit

That’s it, nothing special. I have the Application and IIS roles set on the machine. I just need some ideas, this is driving me nuts. I could work with the 32 bit, but you know how it is now. It’s the principle of the matter folks. MUST GET IT RUNNING…:D

I welcome any insight from you senior Windows system administrators too! Don’t need you to be GIS (ESRI) focused, Iam confident this is something silly I am overlooking. Although it is curious that I can install the 32 bit verson witht he same configuration as above with no problem.

Lastly, I was able to run ArcSDE 10.x and Server 10.x on my Windows 7 machine on SQL Server 2008 R2 enterprise 64 bit no problem.

Alright, look forward to some thoughts folks. Tony
